Welcome to Autumn

Fall is upon us here in Kentucky. The weather has shifted to cooler temperatures, the leaves are starting to change colors and we have finally had our first frost. In the midst of my favorite season we bring you a new feature to the landforms map. A daily fall foilage layer.

This new seasonal layer utilizes NASA satellite data to bring you an estimated current conditions of the leaf change in the deciduous forest across the Commonwealth. Is it perfect? No and it varies day to day but the overall pattern should be able to guide you where to go this weekend to see the best colors. It is updated overnight and freshly shown each morning on the map.

Get out and explore Kentucky.
