Automation Updates

There has been some good work on the backend of the sites in the past couple of months for updating the different databases as well as making the site and databases even more automated.  If you have not checked out the Landform Map, I highly suggest it, since it shows everything on one convenient map.  Also, LiDAR and Aerial imagery have been added to several of the maps including the Waterfall, and Landform Maps.  The aerial imagery does not cover the entire state, but it covers all of Daniel Boone National Forest and is at a 6" pixel resolution.  Making it quite the resource for checking out overlooks and other geological features!  Thanks to Bill Fultz for the dedicated work on updating and correcting the database entries.

The Overlooks are close to being updated and are nearing in on 150 overlooks.  After that, the largest database, Waterfalls, is to be updated with quite a large amount of new content.

Arches Update

The landform map has been updated to include the latest update on www.kyarches.com.  It includes all 391 arches now.

Waterfalls Update

The landform map has been updated to include the latest update on www.kywaterfalls.com.  It includes all 508 waterfalls now.

Overlooks Update

The overlooks are now over 50 documented and available on the website.  This also includes those in the Breaks Interstate Park, which is a park owned by both Kentucky & Virginia.  See the maps above, and the list of overlooks above as well on the main menu.

Geographic Region Map Added

On the hidden menu in the top left corner, there is now an updated Geographic Regions map of the state of Kentucky available.  It is also seen below in a smaller size.  I made one of these several years back and put it on the Kentucky Waterfall Database, but this is a more polished one.  The previous one I had simply painted myself in illustrator and this one is made via gis software.
