Happy New Year 2023

Thanks to Bill Fultz, we pushed out an update in late 2022, updated all the databases.

The arch database has been updated and it now has 2634 arches (2762 including false arches & small windows), 922 of which are on the maps.  There are also 676 possible arches or leads in the database.  Check them out on the Arches Map.

The waterfall database has been updated and now includes 1049 waterfalls, with 927 waterfalls on the map.  There are also 3 possible waterfalls or leads in the database.  Check them out on the Waterfall Map.

The overlook database has been updated and now includes 255 overlooks, with 254 overlooks on the map.  Check them out on the Landforms Map.  This is a huge thanks to Mike Hoffman for submitting the majority to the database.

The tunnels have been updated for the first time ever, since I originally set that part of the database up.  Mike Hoffman is the sole reason for this update, which takes the total tunnels in the database to 125.  This map is not set up like the other automatic maps, so the map is still to be updated.

You can check them all out on my favorite site feature, the Landform Map, which has everything on it!

If you know of something not on the map, something that is incorrect, or you have a picture to add to an existing landform, please SUBMIT HERE.

Here's to a great 2023 with many adventures out there to explore our gorgeous state.

September 2022 Update

Life has been pretty tragic for me, and hence no update since over 6 months ago.  This update would not be possible without Bill Fultz.  I have checked out and have done nothing for this update or the databases this year.  It is his passion and continued work that makes this database still something great and usable for you all while I heal.  So if you get a chance, let Bill know how awesome he is and thank him for his endless work on making this database greater, more accurate and correct, even in the face of hate from others.  Bill and I both believe in an open outdoors in Kentucky that is accessible for all Kentuckians, regardless of wealth, race, ethnicity, physical limitation, sexual preference, sexual identity, or even if you are a buckeye.  It is key for mental health and physical health, and we want Kentuckians to know how incredibly wealthy our state is with the beauty of the natural landscape.  We are known as a coal state, or bourbon, or horses.  People take for granted or just don't know that our state is full of natural wonders and we want you to enjoy them.  We hope this website, database and corresponding websites help you create an adventure close or far from home.

The arch database has been updated and it now has 2609 arches (2718 including false arches & small windows), 878 of which are on the maps.  There are also 683 possible arches or leads in the database.  Check them out on the Arches Map.

The waterfall database has been updated and now includes 1037 waterfalls, with 919 waterfalls on the map.  There are also 3 possible waterfalls or leads in the database.  Check them out on the Waterfall Map.

The overlook database has been updated and now includes 239 overlooks, with 238 overlooks on the map.  Check them out on the Landforms Map.  This is a huge thanks to Mike Hoffman for submitting so many to the database.

You can check them all out on my favorite site feature, the Landform Map, which has everything on it!

1000.......Waterfalls!!!!!!

Now that Arch Awareness Month is behind us (what is that?  Check out the Arch Database for lots of sweet stuff!), the other databases have been updated as well as the arches a month or so ago.

The database now stands at 1000 waterfalls. That is pretty awesome and has been quite the journey to get to this milestone.  The number of confirmed falls still lag under 1000, but they are quickly closing the gap thanks to the work of Ronald Parrott, Mike Hoffman, and several newcomers who are exploring away.  Thanks to all of them.  Tyler Adams, Rick Metzger, Keith Haag, Jeff Crady, Matt Hemsath, Lauren Kallmeyer, Jim Ledford and others that I am missing, thanks.  You all are incredible and thank you for using the database, but thank you more for submitting and making it better.  Sharing is caring!

The arch database has been updated and it now has 2542 arches (2636 including false arches & small windows), 835 of which are on the maps.  There are also 221 possible arches or leads in the database.  Check them out on the Arches Map.

The waterfall database has been updated and now includes 1000 waterfalls, with 900 waterfalls on the map.  Check them out on the Waterfall Map.

The overlook database has been updated and now includes 218 overlooks, with 217 overlooks on the map.  Check them out on the Landforms Map.  This is a huge thanks to Mike Hoffman and his endless adventures to overlooks and submitting them to the database.

You can check them all out on my favorite site feature, the Landform Map, which has everything on it!

Location Search on Map

Due to a suggestion from a user of the website, the Landform Map (which has everything on it) now has a search feature.  So you can search a location to zoom in and see if there are any known landforms in that area.  You can search by address or by latitude and longitude.  Also while performing this update, the new 2021 aerial imagery for a chunk of Western Kentucky, including Mammoth Cave, was added to the map as well.  The map already included the 2020 & 2019 aerial imagery as well as LiDAR for the entire state.  These features make using the map ideal for searching for possible landforms across the commonwealth from your house or while on the hunt in the forest.

If you know of something not on the map, something that is incorrect, or you have a picture to add to a landform, please SUBMIT HERE.
